supercritical extraction
The extraction of supercritical fluids consists of the procurement of extracts of natural products by use of CO2 extraction technology in a supercritical state. The main advantages of this technology are:
- Extraction at low temperatures: this avoids product degradation due to the temperature; usually extraction is done under 70ºC.
- No usage of organic solvents: as opposed to conventional extraction, the extraction of supercritical fluids does not require the presence of solvents therefore avoiding the risks taken handling flammable products.
- No ATEX installation.
- No emissions of volatile organics.
